LET ME HELP YOU BECOME AN INFLUENTIAL SPEAKER
If someone had told me at school that being able to articulate myself verbally would have the biggest impact on my confidence, earning power and ability to influence others, I would have practised EVERY DAY.
In my experience, it's rare to find workplaces that delivers adequate training on how to talk about our ideas, beliefs, values or desires, in a way that makes others sit up and take notice. I had to learn by doing: after three years with Be More Pirate I’ve delivered well over 100 talks, online and off to a really diverse group of audiences and I want to share all the tools that have helped me along the way.
It doesn't matter if you have no aspirations to public speaking - improving your verbal communication has a significant impact on daily interactions like speaking up in meetings, resolving conflict, setting boundaries, networking, pitching to potential clients, going for job interviews, or talking about the causes that matter to you.
There are two options for doing the course
1. You can join the 7 week live cohort, with a small group of women in a safe (but brave) environment. There are 7 x 90 minute group calls and roughly 2.5 hours of self study per week.
2. If the live course feels like too big a commitment, you can access all of the lessons on demand and join my ad hoc Pass the Mic practice sessions to fit in with your schedule.
Please see below for more details.
Mindy Emsley, Founder, Lift One
The audience will feel what you feel, whether its 1:1 or 300 people, before saying a word, first you have to get to grips with what your body is saying
What do you really want to say? Your unique take on a topic is what gives you the edge, so we'll uncover where and why you might be self-editing
The secret to speaking with ease is having your key messages locked down and embedded in your muscle memory - we'll cover how to get there
Fear is normal and it can be harnessed to improve performance, but not if we get stuck in the story of past failure or perfectionism
The devil is in the detail so they say and certain words, used consistently, reduce the clarity, coherence and confidence of our message - time to strip them out
Finally, putting together a speech: from start to finish - how to hook the audience, create a story arc, prepare visuals and use voice as a platform
Rachel Crowther, Founder, A Different Duck
The next live course begins in early 2024.
The cost is £375 per person and it will be a maximum of 8 in the cohort. If you are interested please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will send you more details or we can have a 30 minute briefing call to see if it is the right fit for you.
If you are not able to join a live cohort, I am making all the course lessons available on demand. the link below will go live shortly.
All the content will come via audio recordings, so have a listen to this audio version of the brochure to get a taster of the programme.
"I signed up to 'Pass the Mic' because, though I'm thought of as confident and chatty, though I've spoken on panels and talks - even on the BBC's flagship Food Programme - I was still struggling to find my voice.
And it was more impactful than I could have dreamed. The slow, gentle stream of work allowed me to pace myself; knowing that the course was structured carefully allowed me to feel confident that my sharing of private, intimate and difficult emotions were being honoured by Alex's careful planning.
My highlights were hearing others talk, and receiving their feedback. One woman shared a difficult story about public speaking; immediately afterwards she was beaming and relieved. Reading my peer's feedback on my talks allowed me to believe: I have something helpful to say, it's worth sharing.
Now I'm posting weekly on LinkedIn, and my first post? Over 7,000 views (up from around 300-600). I've started offering free 1:1 brand chats to underserved groups, I'm volunteering with a prestigious group and I'm working out how I can scale this to share my story and grow my business.
Run, don't walk. Sign up."
I do also do 1:1 coaching if you prefer a more personalised approach. A 90 minute session is £120, or £300 for three x 90 minute sessions.
If you would like to know more, please feel free to contact me and book in a 30 minute exploratory call.
