If you’re after an introduction to Be More Pirate, then I do a 30 minute to one hour keynote; an entertaining, high energy dive into the untold history of the Golden Age pirates and their surprisingly sophisticated strategies. From shared power to shared treasure, the pirates can teach modern organisations a thing or two about how to work together. I’ve updated Sam’s original premise, using the stories from our network - from local authorities to Lego, students to CEOs - the talk gives an overview of the pirate principles and how they’ve successfully been put into practice. On last count, I’ve spoken at over 70 different events, from 300 seat theatres in Skopje, to a year of Zoom audiences. I love introducing people to the truth about pirates.
Our network is over 50% women - many of them Captains of their own crews - proving that ‘pirate’ is a useful avatar for women, and a way of reclaiming personal power that may have been lost in the maelstrom of work, motherhood, social pressures and responsibilities. Beginning with the stories of infamous pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Reid, I divulge what I’ve learnt about rebellion from a female perspective; from self-belief to power dynamics, to the every day language we use to shape our reality. All of this has fed into my upcoming coaching programme.
"Alex brought a totally different energy on the stage. Brave, passionate, honest and open to go all-in and create useful discussion with the audience. I can freely say, and the audience backs me up, that she was one of the best!"

"Alex gave an excellent online talk for the Change Management Institute, she really brought the subject matter to life and I've now made it a personal goal to adopt some of what I learnt. We had a great turnout, several more colleagues requested the recording and a CMI board member has since suggested she present at one of our leadership events"
-Mike Mactavish, The Change Management Institute
"We had the pleasure of Alex presenting to 100+ people on the hottest day of the year and she was brilliant. Alex is a fantastic speaker, she is engaging, professional and funny. Her knowledge and passion came across loud and clear and the audience absolutely loved the presentation. It was one of the best events I have done and I would welcome her back any time."
